Week 8 - Challenge 3 - Switch Bezel Design
SWITCH BEZEL
OBJECTIVE
To create switch bezel plastic component from the given class- A surface.
To create the tooling axis for the plastic component
To perform draft analysis over the plastic component.
CLASS- A SURAFCE

This is the given class- A surface. In which there is one main surface connected with three walls.
GENERATING TOOLING AXIS
1. Doing the connectivity check to ensure whether the given class-A surface is continuous or not.

The class A surface has more discontinuous boundary. This can resolved using smooth curve command.
2. This is the surface and XZ plane intersection boundary line. The nearest parallel surface to assumed drawing direction is chosen for bisecting.

3.This is the surface and YZ plane intersection boundary line. The nearest parallel surface to assumed drawing direction is chosen for bisecting.

4.The tooling axis is created by bisecting the tooling directions clearing XZ and YZ planes.

SWITCH BEZEL DESIGN PROCEDURE
CLASS-B SURFACE
WALLS CREATION
- Bringing in the class-A surface.
- Extracting the three wall surface.
- Un-trim the extracted surfaces.
- Extrapolate the un-trimmed surfaces.
- Trim the surface as per required shape.
- Offset the created rib surfaces for 3mm. ( CLASS-B SURFACE)

CREATION OF BASE SURFACE
- Extract the base surface from class-A surface.
- Un-trim the base surface.
- Extrapolate the base surface.
- Offset the base surface for 3mm
- Trim the base surface from the wall surface which is already created.

JOIN
- Join all the class-B surfaces to make as one unit.
FILLET
- Since the class-B surface is 2.5mm downwards to the class-A surface need to subtract this offset distance with the filleting radius observed from the class-A surface.

CLASS-C SURFACE
This the connecting surface of class-A and class-B surfaces.
- Create the boundary of class-A surface using boundary command.
- Smoothen the boundary curve generated because it is already noted that the boundary curve is discontinuous.
- Use sweep command to generate class-C surface along the draft direction with 3 degrees drafting angle with respect to the tooling axis.
- Extrapolate the hole features from class-A surface and trim them.

CLOSED SURFACE
- Publish class-A, class-B, class-C surfaces and tooling axis.
- Join all the surface together.
- Create closed surface.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

CONCLUSION
Hence the part is created and then the draft analysis is done.
