Wiring harness routing & packaging Rules Week 3 Challenge

            Objective:

The P-clip acts as a support part for the wire bundle. Here in electrical part design workbench it is defined as a support part. It has one entry and exit point.  The direction of entry and exit can be either of the two points.  Firstly the geometrical set is defined.  Then the part is defined as support…

Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 2 Challenge

              Objective:

In Catia, to make wiring harness, mainly Electrical harness disciplin which contains several electrical workbenches is used.  Here, we have currently used "Electrical part design workbench." Under this workbench, we can define different electrical parts before assemblying them.  The assembly consist of Electrical…

                  Week 8 - Challenge 4 - Bumper

                  Objective:

The first step to create the part from surface is to do a feasibility check on class A surface to find if the surface is good enough to work on.  Then after, a tooling axis is created in either the X, Y or Z direction. Depending on which of the direction is clearing the draft analysis, a tooling direction is choosen. …

                      Objective:

The draft analysis was performed first on the class A surface then on the final part body.  For the class A surface, A small area of the part was observed to be under the required 3 degree draft angle. A change in class A surface might be required.  The final part was observed to have draft angle of less than…

Report: The tooling axis for this component has been choosen to be Z axis. This also helps with easy changing of mold as the tooling axis for the component are in usual X/Y/Z axis. Via the bisecting method, the tooling axis was tried but it was not successfully performed as the surface is open on one end.   …
