Underbody Coating

Underbody coating is the process of applying a protective layer on the exposed sheet metal surface beneath the body of the car. It is done so as to protect the exposed body of the car from any damage from external environment and abrassion, impact, and chemical substances or water as these things can cause a major damage to the body of the car, which might lead to problems for the customer.

Different OEMs follow different underbody thickness.

The type of underbody coatings are :

• Rubberized Underbody Coating : This type of coating generally lasts longer
• Wax Based Underbody Coating : This type of coating might not last longer but its cheaper than other coatings
• Asphalt Based Automotive Undercoating : This type of coating is most suitable for heavier vehicles and is more protective than rubberized coating.
• Polyurethane Underbody Coating : This type of coating is used for covering fractures on the body and also protects against corrosions.

Advantages of coating are that it prevents and protects against rust, prolongs the life of car, and also provides some noise absorbtion.
