Drafting Analysis

Drafting provides angles or tapers on product features such as walls, ribs that lies parallel to the direction of release fom the mold which eases part rejection, nominal draft angle of a body is 3

In this exercise Drafting analysis is done on the class A surface and the solid body,

1. In Class A surface we use the boundary of the surface to create a tool axis upon which draft analysis is carried out, the draft analysis option is applied and the axis of the compass is adjusted to the tool axis and the body shows diffrent colors according to the settings in this instance the body shows green above 3 degree, blue in between 0 and 3 degree, red for negative angle.

Tooling axis

Tooling Axis done by bisecting method

Tooling axis is done by creating a boundary of the class A surface and extending the side lines with drawing a central axis and by using bisecting lines with respect to these.

In this intance the extract of the base is use to create a central axis and the side view boundary is used to create angular axis with 3 degree and finally bisecting is done between all these to get the tooling axis.
