Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

OBJECTIVE Create the Switch Bezel Plastic component through the given Class-A surface.

  • Creating tooling axis
  • Class B and C surface
  • Perform draft analysis on Class A surface and final component

INPUT Given Class A surface and take the thickness of the components 2.5mm

Tooling axis: Tooling axis is the direction at which core and cavity opens.

Procedure for creating tooling axis

  • First check the connectivity of the given Class A surface by using the Boundary or Join feature to visualized and repaired the open edges of the surface.
  • And then, analyse visually the best suitable plane or surface for tooling axis.
  • After that, create a centre point on surafce for creating the axis on the point.

  • Create a sketch on YZ plane by intersecting with the given Class A surafce, and then

  • Creating line on the side line of the intersetion curve by using point to point line,

  • and by using bisecting line, create a line between the two extended line.

  • and then for creating another bisecting line on XZ plane, first intersect the Class A surface with the plane.

  • And creating line on the side line of the intersetion curve by using point to point line.

  • Create a line at the centre points and give minimum draft angle with the side line.

  • Lastly create another bisecting line of the previous both bisected line.

Draft Analysis Darft analysis is a tool perform to check the product easliy removed from the core and cavity. In other word in draft analysis we check the product easily clear the minumum draft (3 degree). draft andle is calculating betweeen the product differents surfaces and the tool axis
