Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 2 - Base Bracket Design

Draft Angle: Draft is required to eject the parts from the mold properly. The draft is the angle at which the tapered is allowed to release. The minimum draft angle is ½ or 1 degree but 3 degrees is widely accepted.

Tooling Axis creation:

Initially, the boundary is taken from the given model.

And now create a point taking the center as a reference after creating a point we have to make intersect.

The desired output is shown in the plane.

After this create a dummy axis at the point.

Two lines are drawn on the surface of the model to obtain a tooling axis from the bisecting method.

Now bisect the two lines and draw a line taking the point as reference the line drawn is the tooling axis.

Class B surface:

Let's take one of the ribs and extract three edges of the rib

and then surface un trim them and extrapolate all the three surfaces

Using trim we get a desired rib

Now make an offset of the surface by 2.5

In the same way, the other rib is also created.

Next, the base is extracted, and then surface un trim

extrapolate the surfaces

Make the final trims and fillets required

Class C surface:

create the boundary of the surface

Now sweep the given boundary

Trim with the surface to get the C class

Draft Analysis:

Class A surface

select the class A surface and place the cursor on it and measure the angle and then select the surface for draft analysis. Bring the compass on to the surface for the draft direction.

For final fig.
