Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Draft Analysis on a Fan Cover

Draft analysis:

The Draft Analysis command enables you to detect if the part you drafted will be easily removed. This type of analysis is performed based on color ranges identifying zones on the analyzed element where the deviation from the draft direction at any point, corresponds to specified values.

Class A surface

First import the class A surface provided into the catia V5 software

Then using the intersection command the cross section of the surface has been found in X axis direction

The above curve is the intersection view of the surface model. Then the tooling axis for x axis should be created with the help of two lines shown below

The intersection of the surface in Y direction

Tooling axis in Y direction was drafted with the help of two lines

By using the two tooling axis we can create the main tooling axis

Then the draft analysis done by using the feature draft analysis option.

First we have to place the tooling axis system as per our requirment

Then using the running point we can analyze the draft angle of the surface.

Views of the model with the proper color code of the draft angle in various orientations
