OBJECTIVE

The current objective is to Create the Base Bracket Plastic component through the given Class-A surface.

Create a tooling axis.

Perform Draft Analysis.

Draft

Draft is a term used in the manufacturing industry to refer to the angle at which a component is inclined from its vertical axis. This angle is typically added to the design of a component to allow for easier removal from a mold or die during the manufacturing process. The inclination of the component is known as the draft angle.

Draft analysis

Draft analysis is the process of evaluating the draft angle of a component to ensure that it will be able to be removed from the mold or die without damaging the component or the tooling. This analysis is typically performed during the design phase of a component to ensure that it can be manufactured efficiently and with minimal risk of defects or damage.

Tooling axis

The tooling axis is the central axis of the mold or die used to manufacture the component. It is important to consider the tooling axis during the design phase, as it will determine the orientation of the component in the mold or die and how it is removed during the manufacturing process.

Use of a draft in a plastic component

The use of a draft in a plastic component is to allow for the component to be removed from the mold or die without damaging the component or the tooling. The draft angle is typically added to the design of the component to ensure that it can be easily removed from the mold or die without causing any issues during the manufacturing process.

TOOLING AXIS CREATION

1. Determine the orientaton of the component/surface.

2. Determine the orientation of the tooling axis in relation to the component. The tooling axis is typically perpendicular to the surface of the component. Here, the tooling axis is created by bisecting 2 lines which are created by the intersection of the profile of the surface on a vertical plane.

3. This tooling axis is then used in draft analysis.
