Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

OBJECTIVE

To create base bracket using given class A

To create tooling axis

To perform draft analysis

CLASS A SURFACE:

The above image represents the class A surface given as input.

GENERATING TOOLING AXIS

1.First the connectivity of the class A surface is checked by using boundardy option on the surface.

2. The intersion option is used along YZ plane and the drawing direction is assumed to be along the interstion of the curves.

3. using interstion of two line and the point the tooling axis is created.

BRACKET DESIGN PROCEDURE:

CLASS-B SURFACE

RIB CREATION

1. The three necessary surfaces for the rib are extracted.

2. These three surfaces are untrimmed invidually

3. Each untrimed surfaces are extrapolated individually 10mm using curvature and point continuity option and they are trimmed.

4. This trimmed surfaces is offseted for 2.5mm as the thickness of the component and the surface for rib1 is created

same procedure is followed for creating rib2.

BASE SURFACE CREATION:

1. Base surface is etracted from class A

2.surface is untrimmed

3. extrapolation of ulntrimmed surface.

4. offset of the extrapolated surface for 2.5mm

5. rib 1, rib 2 and middle surface of inner faces are created and trimmed and joined together.

6. The fillet values are measured as 3 from the intersection curves and 2.5mm thickness is added and 5.5mm fillet value is given to the class B surface.

CLASS C SURFACE:

1. Boundary for class A surface is created

2. sweep command is used to generated class C surface along draft direction with 3degree angle as draft.

3. extrapolate the hole features and jointed with class A surface.

CLOSED SURFACE:

1. Publish class A, Class B, Class C surface and tooling ais.

2. surfaces trimmed and joined together as one single closed surface.
