Challenge

Week 8 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design

OBJECTIVE Create the Base Bracket Plastic component through the given Class-A surface.

  • Create tooling axis
  • Creating Class B and C surface of base bracket
  • Perform draft analysis on Class A surface and final component.

Tooling axis: Tooling axis is the direction at which core and cavity opens.

Procedure to creating tooling axis

  • First check the connectivity of the given Class A surface by using the Boundary or Join feature to visualized and repaired the open edges of the surface.
  • And then, analyse visually the best suitable plane or surface for tooling axis.
  • After that creating a point on surafce for creating the axis on the point.

  • Create a YZ plane on the same point

  • and then intersect with the given Class A surafce to get intersection curve of the Class A surface at the plane.

  • Extended the side line of the intersetion curve by using point to point line

  • Lastly create a tooling axis by using bisecting line with the help of the two extended lines.

Draft Analysis Darft analysis is a tool perform to check the product easliy removed from the core and cavity. In other word in draft analysis we check the product easily clear the minumum draft (3 degree). draft andle is calculating betweeen the product differents surfaces and the tool axis.
