Week 6-Meshing of Hood Challenge
AIM:
Follow the below-mentioned quality criteria, mesh the component given below and assign thickness:
Target Element Length = 5 Units
| S.N | Quality Criteria | Value |
| 1 | Aspect Ratio | 5 |
| 2 | Skewness | 45 |
| 3 | Warping | 15 |
| 4 | Taper | 0.5 |
| 5 | Min. Length | 2 Units |
| 6 | Max. Length | 8 Units |
| 7 | Min angle Quad | 45 |
| 8 | Max angle Quad | 135 |
| 9 | Min angle Tria | 20 |
| 10 | Max angle Tria | 120 |
| 10 | Tria % | 10 |
(Note: Make sure that all the mid-surface is done separately for each component and then meshed. Attach the hypermesh model files (.hm) with the challenge)
Procedure:
1. Import the file in the solver deck using import option

2. separate the multiple parts by saving the different parts as individual components

3. Start working individually on the parts by first extracting the midsurface of the parts

4. Mask the symmetrical half of the midsurface and keep only the extra feature as the symmetrical part can be reflected.

5. Defeature unnecessary features using the geometry options

6. Start meshing the remaining part by moving from area to area to achieve better mesh flow that can be managed
7. Use various tools such as geometry edit, mesh edit and quality index etc to obtain a decent mesh flow

8. Reflect the half mesh obtained using duplicate and then mirror it.

9. Use find edge option to identify all edges and remove the contradictions

10. The ideal mesh is obtained

11. Check for quality errors and solve if necessary

12. Import other parts and perform similar operations to acheieve results and remove feature lines that might be too contradicting in which case we might have to defeature some crucial features to achieve a mesh flow
13. Export all mesh files

Results:
1. The desired part is ready for simulation
Learning outcomes:
1. Learnt meshing of large and complex components
2. Became familiar with the solver tools
3. Explored various ways to solve problems
