Challenge

Week 6 - Creating connection for Rear door

  • AIM:

The main aim of the challenge is to create the connections for the given rear door model in ANSA envirnoment.

  • PROCUDURE:

1.The first step is to extract the given model into ANSA envirnoment and check for the geometrical error

2.The given model has single PID for entire model,so assign different PID's for different parts of door using Faces>setPID.

3.Provide the required connection using NASTRAN deck

BOLT CONNECTION:

a.Bolt connection can be deployed by various methods

METHOD 1:BY CREATING COG

Create the COG point using points>ON COG and then convert the created COG point using convert option in Assembly bar,to deploy the bolt connection use connection manager and select the faces which are to be connected and FE type will be BOLT,to get the body of bolt enable the body option in connection manager.

METHOD 2:RBE2

In this method we select the nodes (Natran deck>elements>RBE2>many nodes) and then we deploy the rigid connection.

SPOT WELD CONNECTION:

To deploy the spot weld connection create the cog point and convert the created point to spotweld and select the appropriate faces in connection manager and FE representation will be RBE3-HEXA-RBE3

DOOR HANDLE:

To deploy the mass to the door handel we use NASTRAN deck>Elements>CONMi>CONM2

WEATHER STRIP CONNECTION:

To deploy the connection first create the curve using Perimeters>Feat2Curve and then convert the created curve to spotweld line and select the faces in connection manager and FE representation will be RBE3-CBUSH-RBE3

After providing thickness to the model

CONCLUSION:

The required connection for the model has been sucessfully deployed.

LEARNING OUTCOME:

  1. Get to know about the Taylor weld method.
  2. Undrestand how to deploy different types of connections.
  3. undrestand how to constrain Degree of Freedom.
  4. Undrestant how to deploy weather strip connection on model.
