Week 6: Conjugate Heat Transfer Simulation
Week 6: Conjugate Heat Transfer Simulation
ANSWERS
As the Reynolds Number is 7000, on further calculation, we got the velocity is 2.58 m/s. So we use velocity = 2.6m/s for the future calculation.
CASE 1
As for the first case, we use Grid size = 0.004mm and Super cycle stage interval size = 0.01.
Here
Today we are going to solve a basic problem of a Conjugate heat transfer problem by using a basic created geometry.
This is the geometry which we are dealing with. This is a basic 3D geometry of a pipe with thickness, and the hot fluid (air) is flowing through it.

First, we need to create a geometry as per the dimensions.

Then, we need to create another cylinder over the previously created one.

Now, we delete the side profiles to look as a hollow cylinder.

The final geometry

CASE SETUP
Gas Simulation is set to default

Selecting material for the solid and fluid component

Run Parameters - Default

Simulation time parameter is set according to

Boundary Condition, Solid Outer Wall

Inlet

Outlet

Interference

Regions and Initialization, create two regions, Fluid Region and Solid Region.

Super Cycle modeling is set according to this

Grid Scaling, mesh size is set to 0.004mm

Enable y+ for the output files

Out put files is set to as follows

Now, we start to run the simulation using Cygwin.

The simulation ran successfully

RESULTS
The Y plus Contour

Pressure Contour

Velocity Contour

CASE 2
Grid size = 0.003m
and Super cycle stage Interval = 0.02
The grid Size is set to 0.003m

Super Cycle Stage Interval is set to 0.02

RESULTS
Y Plus Contour

Pressure Contour

CASE 3
Grid size = 0.002m
and Super cycle stage Interval = 0.03
RESULTS
