Week 6- Challenge
Aim and Objective: To mesh the given hood with the mentioned quality criteria and assign thickness
Target Element Length = 5mm
| S.N | Quality Criteria | Value |
| 1 | Aspect Ratio | 5 |
| 2 | Skewness | 45 |
| 3 | Warping | 15 |
| 4 | Taper | 0.5 |
| 5 | Min. Length | 2mm |
| 6 | Max. Length | 8mm |
| 7 | Min angle Quad | 45 |
| 8 | Max angle Quad | 135 |
| 9 | Min angle Tria | 20 |
| 10 | Max angle Tria | 120 |
| 10 | Tria % | 10 |
Steps to be followed:
- Import the step file(.stp) into hypermesh with optistruct profile
- Go to delete-solids-select the surfaces-delete entity
- Do the manual cleanup using toggle, replace, add/remove point, project in the Geometry option
- Initially divide the component into small areas by split surf-node in the quick edit option
- Make sure that all the mid-surface is done separately for each component and then meshed
- Go to Geometry-midsurface-select surfaces-extract, always use topo mode for visualising, there are symmetrical bodies so that we can do whole operation and reflect to the respective body
- Go to 2D-automesh-surfaces-Target element length(5mm)-extract, and go to main menu bar- preferences-criteria file settings- change with respect to the given values and apply and now click on automesh
- Go to 2D do the simultaneous operations such as quality index, smooth, element cleanup, edit element, rebuild mesh use these options wherever it is required
- In qualtiy index use options such as place node, drag tria elements, element optimize, split quad element etc., options accordingly
- Mesh the surfaces individually for better mesh, conditions are prevailed in the image below, use mask from tool option to mask and unmask the surfaces to do a good mesh without any interruption
- Go to geometry-distance-two nodes-nodes between(1), select the axis and the base point as created node at the location where we want to reflect the symmerical body
- Go to tool-check elems- select each quality parameter to check the elements and do the corrections necessarily
- If any created elements make sure to organize them to desired component by move tool for this goto tool-organize-select dest component-move
Conclusion:
Hereby with this challenge I have learnt how to mesh the components with the applied quality parameters and also various tools which are required to do the operations possibly
Respective images are attached in the attachment along with the hypermesh model file (.hm)
REFLECT option is used for hinge, outer and inner extract bodies.
