Tools used:-
1) Midsurface using Offset and Skin Offset command.
2) Washer Split
3) Cleanup tools – Place node, Element Optimize, Smooth, Drag Tria, Split Quad, etc.
4) 2d Automesh with element size 5 mm and element type – Mixed.
5) Unsuppress commnd in Edge edit section.
6) Edit Criteria to set the criteria for benchmark.
7) Check element command to individually check for warpage, Jacobian, min and max size of the element, Min and Max angle of elements.
8) Reflect command.
Procedure Followed:-
- Import the given STP file.
- Perform Manual Geometry Cleanup of each and every part individually.
- After geometry cleanup extract midsurface of the components individually. Also assign properties to each of the components and also select materal for the component. As per the Cmponent I have used the material as steel and each and every component is assigned some thckness.
Latch – 1.0 mm
Hinge – 1.2 mm
Inner part – 1.1 mm
Outer part – 1 mm
- Post midsurface again perform geometry cleanup for any types of randomness. Also see for any washer splits and unsuppressing if required.
- Post element cleanup, we will be doing 2D meshing of the component. I have meshed each and every component separately.
- Set the criteria as per requirement for the elements using edit criteria
- Now its time to cleanup the mesh using various tools, like place node, smooth, drag trai elements, split quad elements, optimize node, etc.
- At last after using the tools available with us we have performed the elemental cleanup and the required mesh fulfilling the requirement is obtained.
Conclusion :-
The component provided to us is meshed properly using the elemental cleanup techniques and satisfying the required criterion.
