Week 12 - Project-1
Objective:-
To mesh the given inner door panel, and also apply quality criteria. Assign thickness to the respective part of the component.
Target Element Length = 4 mm
S.No Quality Criteria Value
1 Aspect Ratio 5
2 Skewness 45
3 Warping 15
4 Taper 0.5
5 Min. Length 2mm
6 Max. Length 6mm
7 Min angle Quad 45
8 Max angle Quad 135
9 Min angle Tria 20
10 Max angle Tria 120
10 Tria % 10
Tools Used:-
- Quick edit
- Surface edit
- Surface
- Node edit
- Nodes
- Distance
- Defeature
- Midsurface
- Automesh
- Organize
- Mask
- Translate
- Project
- Check elements
- Preferences- Criteria file setting
Procedure followed:-
- Import the side door panel.
- After importing the surface manually check for any missing surfaces, lines, etc or in other words briefly check for any geometry faults.
- Now extract the midsurface according to the surface requirements. In my component I have used midsurface and also Surface edit- Offset command to extract the midsurface.
- Post midsurface it is time for 2D meshing of the component. But before 2D meshing we have to set the criteria file. To achieve this go to Preferences- Criteria file setting and feed the required quality settings.
- 2D mesh the component individually so that if there is any discrimination we can correct it manually.
- After 2D mesh it is seen that many elements are not attached to each other, so manually solve the issue by using various command we have. I used project command to project and align various elements with the respective component.
- After finalising the mesh it is now turn for the property.
- Assign property to the various parts of the component. As it is seen that the components of the door panel are generally of 2 mm, 2.8 mm & 3 mm. so accordingly I have assigned the property and thickness to the respective surfaces.
Conclusion:-
The final Hypermesh model we get is as per the quality criteria.
