Week 5 Sphere pressing on a plate

Aim: To simulate a sphere pressing on a plate.

Procedure:

The analysis we are doing is a static structural analysis and structural steel and structural steel NIL  is the material  chosen

                                                   (Structural Steel)

                                                   (Structural Steel NIL)

Before we can begin analysis we need to create a model with the given dimensions but since the model is already given it is imported using the import option in the geometry and the model is checked for any imperfections

Once the model is updated, contacts have to be established the contacts are flipped and are named based on the definition, and friction of 0.74 is given

Since we are doing analysis only on 1/4th of  the Total Model it is done as the model is Syymetric in nature and it will save a lot of time in stimualtion

Meshing is done on the component

After the meshing is done the model is set for boundary conditions

The bottom Side of the plate is fixed so that the plate does not move when the sphere comes in contact with the plate

A displacement 4mm is given to the sphere

Results

1:Directional deformation

2:Equivalent Elastic strain

3:Equivalent elastic strain on the plate

4:Equivalent Stress

5:Equivalent stress on the plate
