Week- 5 - Solid meshing

For the given Rear view mirror component, check for the geometrical errors and mesh the Surfaces with the given 2D element Quality criterias given below.

S.No

Quality Criteria

Value

1

Target/Average length

1

2

Minimum Length

0.5

3

Maximum Length

2

Use tetra elements to mesh the Volumes defined in the model and check for the below quality after Volume meshing.

S.No

Quality Criteria

Value

1

Tet collapse

0.2

PROCEDURE:

  • Import the Model into the GUI.
  • After importing the Model we should make Topo for the given model.
  • After making the Topo for the model we should have to divide the parts of the given component.
  • After selecting the component we should have to give the perimeter and macros for the given part as target element 1.
  • We should have to generate the mesh for the part by Mesh Generation>Spot Mesh>Ortho Tria>Tria. These Ortho Tria and Tria were used in different places where for the curved sections its better to use Ortho tria in that region and plain surfaces we can use Tria Mesh.
  • After completing the Mesh Generation we have to check the element failure i.e Min element and max element failure and we can reconstruct for best mesh quality
  • After mesh we should have to create volume tetra mesh for the part we should go to volume mesh >volume>manual>select the component auto and create a new property.
  • After creating the property we should have to go to volume>list >select the component and remesh the part and select terta Rapid.
  • we should check the Tet collapse for the given components so we can rectify by Mesh>Grid>MV free.

CONCLUSION: Hence the for the Real mirror we have done geomentry cleanup and mesh generation using Ortho tria and trias and created volume tetra mesh and cleared all the elemental quality and Tet collapse for the given model.
