Challenge

Week- 5 - Solid meshing

  • AIM:

The main aim of the challenge is to develope a solid mesh over a given Rearview mirror component according to the given quality criteria.

FOR 2D:

SL NO QUALITY CRITERIA VALUE
1 Target/Average length 1
2 Minimum length 0.5
3 Maximum length 2

FOR 3D:

Tet Collapse = 0.2

  • PROCEDURE:

1. Import the given model to ANSA envirnoment.

2. Perform TOPO operation to clean the CAD geometry using Faces>topo.

3. Set the perimeter length and macros to 1 and observe the CAD geometry.

4. Check the geometrical issue in checks manager.

5. Clear all issues using Auto fix or by manually.

6. Perform defeaturing operation in the required area.

7. Set the given quality criteria and mesh parameters.

8. Perform spotmesh using tria and orthotria elements, especially in fillet regions use ortho-tria elements by which we can clearly capture the geometry.

COMPLETE SHELL MESH:

9. To perform solid mesh, first we have to define the volumes using volumes>define>visible.

10. Remesh the individual PID's using Tetra FEM/Tetra rapid.

11.In order to view the created volume switch off the geometry and FE-model.

COMPLETE VOLUME MESH:

PID VIEW:

  • LEARNING OUTCOMES:
  1. Understand the concept of solid mesh.
  2. Understand how to define volumes.
  3. Understand the concept of Tetra Rapid and Tetra FEM.
  4. Understand how to clear the Tet-collapse using MV-Free tool.
  • CONCLUSION:

The given Rearview Mirror model is meshed according to the given quality criteria.
