Challenge

Week- 5 - Solid meshing

Aim: For the given Rear view mirror component, check for the geometrical errors and mesh the Surfaces with the given 2D element Quality criteria

Quality Criteria :

Principle :

A rear-view mirror (or rearview mirror) is a flat mirror in automobiles and other vehicles, designed to allow the driver to see rearward through the vehicle's rear window (rear windshield).

In cars, the rear-view mirror is usually affixed to the top of the windshield on a double-swivel mount allowing it to be adjusted to suit the height and viewing angle of any driver and to swing harmlessly out of the way if impacted by a vehicle occupant in a collision.

The rear-view mirror is augmented by one or more side view mirrors, which serve as the only rear-vision mirrors on trucks, motorcycles, and bicycles.

Procedure :

Load the Model into the ANSA Software

After TOPO cleanup

Check for Geometry errors in the model

As there are errors present in the model. It has to be rectified before carrying on Meshing operations.

The error can be rectified either by the manual method or using the auto-fix option.

The Model is free from Geometrical errors

Once the Model is free from geometrical errors . Quality criteria is to be given

Before Meshing the length is assigned as 1

Since the Model Does not have a specific Thickness. It's better to use Ortho trias (Tetra meshing)ce

Since the Model has different parts (PIDS). Spot Meshing is done Individually for all the Parts

Once Meshing is done for all the parts and necessary Quality is achieved. Volume Mesh can be done

Before Meshing, the Model has to be assigned as Solid Property.

Remesh can be done either by Tetrarapid or TetarFEM Algorithm

The cross-section of the Model :

Conclusion: By completing the challenge, Understanding the 3D solid Meshing using different options and getting proper Mesh flow, and Satisfying all the quality criteria
