Week- 5 - Solid meshing
Aim
To create solid tetra mesh for the rear-view mirror assembly according to the quality criteria given.

Procedure;
A. Geometry Check
Given CAD has to be checked for any errors- CHECK MANAGER > GEOMETRY
For the given model, all the CAD errors were fixed by selecting the errors > right mouse click> FIX.

B. Checking the Orientation
TOPO > ORIENT(visible) option was used to get the correct orientation for the components individually.
D. Setting Mesh Parameters and Quality Criteria
Mesh Parameters and Quality Criteria from the given data are entered.

E. Assigning Perimeter Length
MESH > PERIMETERS > LENGTH option was used to set the perimeters and macros length as 1 mm which is the average
length according to the given data.

F. Prepare the cad for meshing
Some feature lines were suppressed to avoid elements failing for min length.

G. Shell mesh creation
Mesh Generation > Best option was used to create tria shell mesh on the cad surface. Tria elements were used on plane surfaces
and ortho-tria was used on curved surfaces.

Shell mesh was created for the components and quality was cleared as per the given criteria.
H. Solid mesh creation
After the shell mesh was created, the component was checked for 'off' elements and 'unmeshed surfaces'.
a. Defining a volume
Volume Mesh Module > Volumes > Define > Manual was used to define the volume.

b. Creating Solid elements
The volume type was changed to Tetra Rapid and the volume was then meshed with tetra elements.
Improve > Fix Quality was used to fix the solid elements that were failing for tet collapse.

Solid mesh for all the components were created individually and checked for OFF elements.
I. Conclusion
All the components in the assembly were checked for geometrical errors and meshed with tetra elements according to the given quality
criteria.
