Week 5 Challenge : Surface wrap on Automotive Assembly
AIM:
To make a surface wrap over a given set of models, the models include an engine, a gera box and a transmission.
PROCEDURE:
we are to merge all together and provide a surface wrap over it.
the engine model is first taken into check, the given model has many a geometric errors and the thing is we are to perform a surface wrap and it is fine if we have cleared all the errors on the outer surface of the model than the inner part. that is concentrate more on clearing the outer than inner parts.
the intake model of the engine has errors as such:

we can see many parts that are detached and of no practical use for the engine. we are clear all such detached parts.

etc..,
The major errors that seems to make the system defective are some triple cons and many single cons.
these errors are formed due to the presence of many reference objects such as doughnut shaped parts and circular ring parts.
all such parts have to be cleared inorder to make the engine ready for surface wrap.

once clearing all the outside floating unrequired parts we can get the engine as above.
we then have to clear all the single, triple cons, doughnut shaped, ring shaped parts.
the error correction are performed mostly by delete tool as the engine seems better without any much reconstruction except for the deletion of few unrequired parts.

it can be seen, the transition of the model with all the ring like parts to something without it.

and there were many overlaping faces which were rectified too to a level, so we can perform surface wrap.

hitting topo helps in achieving connection between parts after corrections.
similarly all errors are retified in engine and few glimpse of them are as follows:

the final result seems much better than the given model and is better ready for the wrapping.
to make it complete we need to make few covers for the openings of all hollow parts, so we can get a better surface wrap.

once completing we can move on to the next part, the gear box.
when comparing the engine to other two parts, the gear box and the transmission, they have better geometric aligning and require very few corrections.

and are easy to correct.

the gear box has better body and is easily fixed for wrapping.
the transmission shaft requires less corrections too when compared to engine.
transmission:

once after correcting all the geometric errors, not all like as much errors that can be corrected for wrapping.
we move on to merging all three components into a single engine-transmission-gear box model.
be clear to cover all the hole like openings of the models.
few parts are neglected as they wont fall for our target length, make sure the parts and shape are as much perfect so it resembles an engine or a transmission or a gear box.

once closing all the inlet holes we are to merge the files:
go to merge in files

similarly the gear box:

verify once again for any open holes, if there is any, close them.
after then remove all the unwanted parts fromthe pid box. we are to use the compress tool for this process.

once completing the PID cleanup
finally get to the mesh in which choose wrap in the elements tool. constant length in it.

when clicking it we are provided with a status bar showing empty, double click on it.
it lets you into a box where we can input our target length and few other required parameters.
the target length we are to provide 3 mm.

once then click ok, which will take us to another column where we are to take in all the contents for wrapping

choose all active parts and click the arrow pointing right. the active parts will all be moved to the octree.

click ok, and then run.

wait out a few minutes and then we are given out our desired product. the model of engine-transmission and gear box completely surface wrapped as needed.

the 3 mm surface wrap is done successfully.

RESULT:
the given models are surface wrapped with a target length of 3 mm.
CONCLUSION:
the models are topo cleaned as required for a surface wrap and they are merged, wrapped according to the given conditions.
