Challenge

Week 5 Bending of iPhone

AIM:

For this challenge, simulate the bending of iPhone as per the given cases below

Case 1: Simulate the model as it is given in the video

Case 2: Move the bottom fingers from their defined position to the given position X= 22.5mm & Z= 10mm and obtain the results for the simulation. Also define the S-N curve for the Aluminium Alloy material as per values given below and determine the fatigue life results for the same.

PROCEDURE:

  • Open the Ansys work bench and import the given geomentry.
  • Give the Engineering material properties like Aluminium,Polyethene,Glass.
  • open the edit space claim and import the given model and modify if the changes in the model.
  • Give the name of the given model and edit the model names as per the given model.
  • Give the material for the given model and like Glass, aluminium etc.
  • Give the connection for the given model for the finger and select the contact and target face of thr given model.
  • Give the joints for the fingers in the model fixed and traslantion for the given model.
  • we should have to generate the mesh for the given model.Give the sizing of the element of the target element size as 2mm.
  • we should go to the analysis setting 8 time steps and give the large deformation on and have the energy dispaction as the 0.1 in the non linearity.
  • we should have to give displacement ,fixed supports and joint displacement.
  • we should have to assign the defomation, stress, strain.

Case 2:

Comparsions:

case 1:

Equivalent Stress=836.69Mpa

Equivalent Strain=0.23439Mpa

Directional Deformation=8

case 2:

Equivalent Stress=919.85Mpa

Equivalent Strain=0.1074Mpa

Directional Deformation=4.4273

By observating the aboce results case 2 gives the best results for the directional deformation and equivalent strain in the model.
