Week - 5 - 2D meshing for Plastic components

1. Open ANSA

Use 'performance_mode 3' to open ANSA and upload IGS file

Perform Topo and Orient

In mesh module perform perimeter>length on cons and macros for 1mm.

Thickness of geometry is measured

2. Check Geoemtry

Geometry cleanup is done initially by using auto fix on errors.

Use face deletion and new face between cons to completly fix the errors.

3. Mid surface creation.

Attempted auto mid which doesn't work well.

On the circumferential shape offset is performed followed by middle of faces on the hinges as shown in

the figure.

Top plate is mid by offset and followed middle curve for the cap curvature as shown in the figure.

4. MID Surface

Fill the unclosed surface of the mid surface and set thickness for the surface.

5. Mesh and Quality check

Used spot mesh and set criteria to check quality.

Conclusion:

Required midsurface is arrived.
