Q.) Explain the various applications of Power converters in an Electric vehicle. For Example what type of converter will you use for Horn which requires DC and less than 10V. Likewise come up with different applications

----> In an EV application of Power Converter is as follows

Rectifier

- AC to DC converter

- Used in charger to convert grid supplied AC voltage to DC voltage.

Chopper

- DC to DC converter

- USed in charger to convert unregulated DC to regulated DC supply to be stored in battery.

- A Buck converter will be used for horn, wiper moter, indicator lamps, dashboard circuitry.

- A Buck converter to charge auxilary battery from main battery.

- A Boost converter in case of DC link of Ultracapacitor.

Inverter

- DC to AC converter

- Used to power AC motor from DC supply.
