Week 4- Rolling operation
1. Objective
We have to simulate the rolling operation on a workpiece made of copper. We have to find equivalent stress, equivalent plastic strain, directional deformation in Z-axis and have to prove that workpiece has been displaced 90mm.
2. Case setup and execution
We have to increase the length of the workpiece by 60mm, decrease its thickness by 8mm on both sides and then simulate for 14 steps. The material of the workpiece is Copper alloy non-linear and that of 2 side rollers is stainless steel. The contact between the workpiece and 2 rollers is frictional with a coefficient of friction of 0.2. The formulation used is Augmented Lagrange with interface treatment of Add offset, Ramped effects. A normal stiffness factor of 0.1 and mesh size of 4mm is used.
