Challenge

Week 4- Rolling operation

Objective: To calculate the stress and strain experienced by the workpiece of 60mm in length and 8mm thickness. Also deformation along z-axis is calculated.

Model: It consists of 2 wheels which deform the workpiece.

Connections:

1. Contact sets:

a. Between the wheel1 and workpiece

b. Between the wheel 2 and workpiece

2. Revolute Joints:

a. Between the ground and wheel 1

b. Between ground and wheel 2

Mesh :

5436 Nodes; 860 - Elements

Analysis Settings:

Along with the settings given above, The stabilisation is kept constant with an energy dissipation ratio of 0.1.

Displacements:

Applied to the workpiece to control the extent of its deformation

Joints:

1. Wheel 1

2. wheel 2

Results:

1. Stress

2. Strain

3. Directional Deformation along Z-axis

4. Displacement

From the simulation, it can be proven that the workpiece is displaced by 89.6 mm
