Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2
- What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?
- How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?
- Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results.
- Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.

1.Q: mapped and dynamic motor ,engine , generator
mapped engine
mapped engine is the ddefult setting in poertrain block set . It is used to measure the performance parameter of the vehicle by using standen lookup table which are perfed to the system this type of modelling is less accurate .the data exrcut from the lookup table are air mass flow,fuleflow, emission data ,exhaust temperature and efficiency.
dynamic engine :
dynamic engine this type of model user real time data fed by the user at runtime for modelling ,this is more accurate then mapped engine, this type is used data of subsysstem of a vehicle barke torque, fuel flow,gas mass flow, exhaust temperature,exhaust mass flow rate and exhusat emission
mapped motor:
mapped motor the mapped motor work in torque control model this type of motor is used when the user requried a faster simulation .
dynamic motor:
dynamic motorin this dynamic motor a three phase permant magnet synchronous motor is used the simulation is more accurate.
mapped generator :
mapped generator is also similar like motor block most of the data requried is taken from the lookup table correspounding to the input parameter it is less time .
dynamic generator :
dynamic generator is ivolves user entering the parameer manullaly during the run time of the particular application the result take time and more accurate.
to change the model type
1 double click on "passenger car" any control block like exmple motor
2 double click on "electrical plant"
3 right click on :motor mapped" and then click on "variant" then click on "lebel model active choice "
4 select the type of motor mapeed to dynamic motor

2.Q:
MPG is mile per gallon is the distance measured in miles that car travel per gallon of fuel in the U.S environmental protection agency are the EPA is the government agency is reponsible for the certifiy a vehicle mpg
mile = 0.6213711 miles
one km is 06213711 miles
the mil per gallon equivalent is based on the energy contant of gas online .the energy obtained from burning of one US gallon of gas online is 33.70 kw/h
to convert the mile per gallon rating into the untisof distance per unite energy used .the mile per gallon value can be multipled by one of following factor
1MPGE = MILES/33.70kw/h
example 20 miles
mpge = 20/33.70 mil/ kwh
=0.59347181 miles / kwh
to covernt mile to km = miles/0.6213711 km
=0.59347181/0.6213711
= 0.9551003615 km/kwh
factors are considered to model fuel flow:

1 vehicle speed
2 vehicle fuel flow
3 battery power
3.Q normal simulation without grade and wind velocity in the environment block with wot parameter is

simulation with grade and wind velocity in the environment block with wot parameter is output

4 .Q: Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.
