What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?

• Mapped Model: this model is used when we have set of data of the required parameters. This data is given in the form of look up tables configured with operational parts and then used for analysis and simulation. Simulation can be more easier and faster if detailed parameters or specifications are available to form a lokk-up table data set. For this more data has to be collected and some assupmtions also has to be made.

For example, in the case of a SI engine block, the inputs of the engine like fuel intake quantity, air intake, etc. and outputs of the engine such as torque output, power output, etc. are given in the form of lookup tables. Also for motors, parameters to be considered as RPM, Efficiency, Heat, Losses etc. are to be considered whereas for generator some of the data can be taken as motor torque, battery current and torque etc.

so, as this model does not work on the real time parameters, its simulation time is faster but the efficiency is less.

• Dynamic Model: this model refers to one which breaks down a system or sub-system into its components. The output of these components combined is taken as the output of the system. This type of model can be used when we need to have the component level data as we will need to give input to each of the components and take their output and is used to analyse the impact of individual components on the overall performance.

so, as this model does not work on the real time parameters, it has very high accuracy but the time taken for simulation will be more as many subsytems for engine, motor, generator are running and analysed.

Now, to change model type while simulating an example,

select the vehicle blockset in the example. next, go to the engine blockset and by right clicking on it select varient option and then it will pop-up label mode active choise option. from that you can select various types of mapped or dynamic mode.
