Week-4 Challenge WOT Condition Part-2

1)What is the difference between mapped and dynamic model of engine, motor and generator? How can you change model type?

mapped model: Model uses a set of steady-state lookup tables to characterize engine performance. The tables provide overall engine characteristics, including actual torque, fuel flow rate, BSFC, and engine-out exhaust emissions.

dynamic model: Model decomposes the engine behavior into engine characteristics that are separated into lower-level components. By combining components in this way, the models capture the dynamic effects.

  • we change the model type by click on passenger car block.
  • click on the electric plant model.
  • under the electric plant model is motor block click on it .
  • under this there is mapped and dynamic model we can change from there.

2)How does the model calculate miles per gallon? Which factors are considered to model fuel flow?

MPG, or miles per gallon, is the distance, measured in miles, that a car can travel per gallon of fuel. MPG is also the primary measurement of a car's fuel efficiency: The higher a car's MPG, the more fuel efficient it is.but in this we using electric vehicle so we can calculate it by distance travel by vehicle per unit electrical energy consumed.

performance calucation blockset for electric vehicle.

factor which effects the performance is speed and the battery of the vehicle.

3)Run the HEV ReferenceApplication with WOT drive cycle. Change the grade and wind velocity in the environment block. Comment on the results.

block parameter for wot drive cycle

in environment block i have changed the value of wind grade .

simulation model of hybrid electric model.

performance ouput of hybrid electric vehicle.

the first graph is of actual and target velocity in this the nominal speed was 60 and deacclerate time 65 sec and simulation time was 100 sec.

in battery current curve at intial stage the battery current requirement is after some time it become constant then decreases as decelration starts.

battery soc starts decreases as acleration increases when decleration started soc charge of battery increases.

eng/mot/gen speed increases as acleration increases and dreases with delecration.

eng/mot/gen torque increases intially then decreases decelration.

when vehicle on moving on battery the fuel economy is more and become less when opprates on engine.

4)Keeping all other parameters same, compare the simulated results of hybrid and pure electric powertrains.

performance output of electric vehicle with same parameter

comparision HEV EV

lesser soc declined in electric vechile in compare to hev.

better fuel economy is ev as compred to hev.

no emssion in ev .
