Week 4 Challenge : CFD Meshing for BMW car
AIM: For the given model, to check and solve all geometrical errors on half portion and Assign appropriate PIDs. Perform meshing with the given Target length and element Quality criteria. dublicate the same to other half also, creating a air tunnel around the model and isolate the required volume and generating volumetric mesh.
Procedure:
- Initially fining the whole model to get a clear model.
- Deleting half of the model in symetry so that we can work on other half easily and later can be dublicated.
- Working on different PID's of model like grills, lights, mirrror & windows etc., to obtain a single volume inside the car.

- Eleminating all single cons and overlaped surfaces.
- creating a common volume.

- keeping model tyre out of contact with model, clearing all surfaces b/w them,
- clearing base of the car which had many overlaped surafces and creating a new suface to make a common volume.

- Assigning PID's for each all different parts like.
- Front Grill
- lights
- Body
- rear view mirror
- tyre and rim.
- silencer
- logo.
- windows
- After assigning PID, started meshing with smaller PID's with given target length.

- Meshing all other parts with given target lengths.

- Bringing all OFF elemets to zero, by mesh reconstructing and making topo corrections.

- freezing the Body PID and meshing all other parts to avoid erazing of meshes.

- checking that all surfaces are meshed, and minimum off elements. finalizing the model.
- Inorder to create a tunnel to get vol. mesh, started to create different points around the model at defined distances.
- joining all points and getting a closed tunnel around model.

- meshing the tunnel with range from 20 to 100mm of target length.
- after meshing, defining the model to get auto detected volumes.
- checking all volumes and selecting only needed volume. deleting the rest.
- Dint continue with volumetric mesh because of low end PC.
Learning outcomes:
- learnt about topo cleanup
- how to do symetric model work
- how to mesh different PID with different target length.
- learnt how to create a tunnel around the model by creating different points around the model at specific distances.
- how to select needed volumes.
Result:
- Topo cleanup completed, meshing completed, tunnel created, succesfully obtained desired volume.
Conclusion:
- learnt about meshing on practical model.
