Week 3 Challenge : CFD meshing on Turbocharger

AIM: To clean topology of given turbo charger model, mesh it in 2D and then proceeding for volumetric meshing.

Procedure:

  • After importing model of turbo charger found many single coons and missing surfaces.
  • Solved for missing surfaces and created new surfaces wherever required.
  • used multiproject, intersections, parametric & loop selection several other tools to complete topology.

  • Deleted overlaped surfaces, by using PID selection

  • Deleted all double surfaces in b/w 1st blade and 2nd balde to create a single volume.
  • Closed all surfaces inorder to get a single volume.
  • Named all the PID according to thier functions.

  • After all naming and checking for single coons, proceded to 2D meshing according to given DATA. wherever found intersection of two different mesh length, gave range of mesh length to adjust accordingly.
  • After completing meshing checked for any unmeshed surfaces.

  • After 2D meshing, proceded to volumtric meshing.
  • Confirming complete meshed model, we'll proceede to define the software to auto detect the volumes in model.
  • After getting list we'll decide which volume is to be kept and which volume has to be deleted.
  • Once final volumes are selected based on fluid movements. we'll remesh volume one by one using tetre CFD.
  • After vol. meshing we'll just check for meshing.

Learning outcomes: 1)learnt how to clear topological errors.

2)learnt how to mesh in 2D for variours PID's

3)learnt how to volumetrically mesh given model.

Results: given model is volumetrically meshed.
