3. how a shallow foundation different in flyover and in river bridge?

Shallow foundation is use when we have good bearing strata available below the soil. othewise we will go for deep foundation.

For the flyover bridge shallow foundatin is prefer because foundation is not coming contact with water. so we have to not worry about scoring effect and liquifiction. As per IRC we have to provide foundation depth 2 meter below the soil.

The river bridge is coming directly contact with water so we have to first calculate the scouring effect then by using that data we have to decide the depth of the foundation. and also provide when we have good bearing strata available below the foundation. Other wise we will go for deep foundation.
