1.

Aim:

To Implement control logic of a “washing machine” using Stateflow as per given sequence:

  • If the power supply is available, the system gets activated
  • If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED
  • Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.
  • Then rinsing happens for next 20s & dryer runs for 50s

Explanation:

Stateflow provides a graphical language that includes state transition diagrams, flow charts, state transition tables and truth tables. With state flow we get to know how the Matlab algorithms and simulink models react to the input signal. It enables you to develop and design supervisory control, task scheduling , fault managent etc.

Control logic controls the operation of programs. It responds to the command from the user, and it's capable of performing automated tasks that has been already implemented in the program.

Basic Functions:

Washing machine is the machine used to wash the various types of clothes without applying any physical efforts. With washing machine you don’t have to rub the clothes with hand or squeeze them to remove the water from them. The washing machine is also called as clothes washer or simply the washer. The washing machine enables you to wash your clothes automatically without having to supervise its operation. All you have to do is put the clothes in the machine and select the wash mode. The washing machine automatically takes in the amount of water and detergent required and it also automatically sets the timer for washing, rinsing and drying as per the selected mode and the amount of clothes.Depending on the position of loading the clothes in washing machine, there are two types of washing machines: top loading and front loading washing machines.

Stages in washing:

  • Prewash
  • Washing
  • Rinsing
  • Spinning

Prewash:

In this stage the drum is filled with certain level of water and mixes up with the detergent to remove the dirts and stains from the clothes.

Washing:

The removal of major stains is done in this stage the rotation of the entire tub provided for enhancing better wash and cleaning the load ultimately. Moreover, the duration taken to complete the wash cycle is depends upon the settings option chosen by the user. Always the heavy load enhances high duration. Small or limited load enhances less duration.

Rinsing:

The soapy water from washing is taken from the clothes. And all the fresh or pure water is sparkled to the clothing available in the tub. This particular rinse option held responsible for taking soapy water out of the washer without facing any kind of difficulties is called rinsing.

Spinning:

In this process the water is removed from the cloth by rotating at higher rpm . Thus drying the cloth.

Stateflow chart:

The stateflow chart is created with the above given inputs.

Blocks Used:

The blocks which are used form the Simulink library

1.Toggle

2.Constant

3.Stateflow chart

4.Display

5.Lamp

The inputs are defined as 0 and 1. Te toogle switches are connected to the constant blocks and the display are connected to the outputs from the state flow chart. The lamps are connected to the display which will glow when the signal is 0.

2.

Aim:

To make a Simulink chart for the “Gear shift” logic as per below conditions:

Speed Range(kmph) Gear

0 to 15 1

16 to 25 2

26 to 40 3

41 to 60 4

Above 61 5

Give speed input while the simulation is running & display the gear number.

Explanation:

A car transmission is one of the most important components of a vehicle. It’s what moves the power from the engine to the wheels. There are a variety of car transmissions. Some are automatic, while manual transmissions in stick-shift cars require the driver to complete extra steps for the vehicle to operate effectively. what the transmission do is to enable the gear ratio between the drive wheels and engine to adjust as the car slows down and speeds up.

Manual tansmissions:

Manual transmissions have a clutch pedal and a shifter the driver uses to manually change gears. These types of transmissions consist of a set of gears along a pair of shafts, called the input and output shafts. With a manual transmission, the driver has to select the proper gear and engage or disengage the clutch. The transmission uses a flywheel, pressure plate and clutch to engage and disengage the engine from the transmission.

Simulinkchart for "Gear Shift":

Inside of the Simulink chart.

At 10km/hr:

At 20km/hr:

At 40km/hr:

At 60km/hr:

At 80km/hr:

Thus the simulink chart for the "Gear Shift" logic is created.
