AIM: The primary objective of this task is to proficiently employ the HyperMesh pre-processing tool for technical procedures, such as refining the geometry, extracting the mid-surface, and generating the mesh, on the given automobile hood component. Following this, the quality of the mesh produced will be evaluated according to the defined quality standards.

OBJECTIVE: The primary objective of this task is to effectively utilize the HyperMesh pre-processing tool to enhance the finite element analysis capability through geometry refinement, mid-surface extraction, and mesh generation on the provided automobile hood component. The quality of the resulting mesh will be evaluated based on established quality criteria to ensure optimal simulation accuracy and performance.

PROCEDURE: The process can be divided into the following phases:

Phase 1: Importing, Setup and Mid-surface generation.

1. First of all go to Import Solver Deck > lmport Geometry > File type: STEP > Choose File > Import. The geometry is imported.

2. Then go to Features Tree > Components > Hide all the components except inner_extract_body1.

Inner_extract_body.

3. Delete > solids > select All > delete.

4. Geometry color mode > By Topo.

5. Geom > Midsurface > Surfs > select All > Extract.

6. To cleanup the Geometry use these options :

F11 > filter surf > Lines > to fill the gapes.

F11 > Toggles edges > by changing the tolerance value to fill the gapes / Suppresse some Line which are below the target element size.

F11 > Split Surf-line > To delete and recreate a new line.

Geom > Surfaces > Spline/Filler or Ruler or Skin these option are used to cleanup free and non manifold edges.

7. After the Cleaning up the geometry, Go to 2d > Automesh > surfs > Displayed > Element size: 5mm > Mesh type: mixed > Mesh. After meshing is done,Go to feature tree delete the

particular component.

8. Check the mesh flow. And then remesh the improper mesh area.

9. F10 > Quality Criteria > Enter the Given Criteria.

10. Check Individually all types of elements in which the value has been entered.

11. Some elements can fail in this Quality criteria, They can be rectified by using some options.

Tool > Check elems > Save Failed.

Tool > Mask > elems > Retrieve > Mask > Reverse. ( Only the failed elements will be shown in the display )

F12 > elems > Select elements > Mesh ( Some failed elements can be removed by remeshing them )

2d > Qualityindex > cleanup tools > Display Threshold : fail > there are lot of options there in cleanup tools, By using these option we can remove the failed elements. 12. And then again check elements in the given Quality criteria. If there is no elements failed then the components is perfectly meshed with the given criteria.13. Then go to Features Tree > Components > Hide all the components except outer_extract_body1.

Outer_Extract_Body.

14. Delete > solids > select All > delete.

15. Geometry color mode > By Topo.

2d > Qualityindex > cleanup tools > Display Threshold : fail > there are lot of options there in cleanup tools, By using these option we can remove the failed elements. 22. And then again check elements in the given Quality criteria. If there is no elements failed then the components is perfectly meshed with the given criteria.23. Then go to Features Tree > Components > Hide all the components except hinge_reinforcement_extract_body1.

Hinge_Reinforcement_Extract_Body124. Delete > solids > select All > delete.

25. Geometry color mode > By Topo.

26. To cleanup the Geometry uses these options :

F11 > filter surf > Lines > to fill the gapes.

F11 > Toggles edges > by changing the tolerance value to fill the gapes / Suppressed some Line which is below the target element size.
