Week 3 Challenge : CFD meshing on Turbocharger
Aim:
To perform the 2D mesh for the given turbocharger model
Procedure:
Do the geometry clean up by identifying and deleting the overlapping surface. thorough examination has to be done to find the overlapping surfaces.
Identify the single cons and triple cons and delete all
If necessary keep the triple cons
Ensure the continuity of all the regions. clear the discontinuities. If any discontinuities are present it wil show intersection error during volumetric meshing
Assign the name for all PIDs
Do the 2d meshing for the individual pids with the given size. set the length and macros with the given size and set the mesh length and quality
if 2d meshing is not done in some region redo that
check the no of elements and element size
click define option for auto detecting volume
delete the unwanted volume like thickness element from the parent geometry
Do the 3d mesh by selecting cfd tetra mesh option
check the no of elements and element size
Learning outcomes:
Geometry cleanup
3d meshing and deletion of unwanted volume
checking for discontinuities
Result
volumetric meshing of given turbocharger was done
conclusion
this video is very helpful about volumetric meshing in ANSA
