Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

AIM:

1)For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

In the first step,Open the advisor tool in matlab and select the EV_defaults_in file.Add the cargo mass 500 kg so the total vehicle mass is 1508 kg.

In the second step select the CYC_FTP drive cycle in the drive cycle dropdown box since 1 drive cycle is covered distance of 17.77km we will change the no of drive cycle into 4 thus 3*17.77=53km then click on run button

In the below picture shows the soc of battery and drive cycle. according to our condition vehicle should travel 53 km approx. but due to soc of battery came to 0 vehicle travels only for 41.4km

Conclusion:

So,in the aboove condition our requirement is vehicle should cover 45km but due to lower capacity of battery charge drains completely at 41.4km itself.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

So in this case increase the no.of battery modules to 25 to 75 and now with the same parameters above we can run the simulation

Here with 4 nos drive cycle vehicle covered distance of 53.3km and soc of the battery remains at around 75%.

Conclusion:

Here with the incerase in battery modules to 25 to 75 with all other parameters same vehicle will cover distance of 53.3km and battery charge remains at 75%

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

Compare your results in table and conclude.

Open the advisor tool and select PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in vehicle

Without changing any parameters we have to find the gradeability of vehicle with diffrent speeds. so in below with udds drive cycle at 88.5km/hr the gradeablity of vehicle is 1.7%

With the change in vehicle speed to 96.6km/hr the gradeability of vehicle decreses to 1.5%

Further increse in speed of the vehicle to 104.6km/hr the gradeability of decrease to 1.2%

Conclusion:

SPEED IN KM/HR GRADEABILITY IN %
88.5 1.7
96.6 1.5
104.6 1.2

So,from the above table we can conclude increase in speed of the vehicle will decrease the gradeability of the vehicle
