Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1)

First we have to set advisor tool in metric units before running simulation so as to get distance in km.

Consider the EV_defaults_in file with cargo mass of 500 kg as shown below

An FTP drive cycle has been selected as shown below. The no.of cycles has been set to 3 as we want to simulate for atleast 45km.

Now observe the result below

It can observed that the vehicle travelled a distance of 41.4 km. So it can't travel for 45 km with FTP cycle.

2)

Let us now add 3 more modules as shown below so that vehicle can meet range requirements

With the similar drive cycle, the results obtained are

Now the vehicle travels a total distance of 46.3 km which meets the desired range specification.

3)

Now load the Prius japan defaults as shown below

Now consider UDDS drive cycle with different gradebality settings as shown

6% gradebality

7% gradebality

8% gradebality

9% gradebality

It can be seen that vehicle has failed in this test. Let us increase the duration to 20 secs as shown below

The results are tabulated as shown below

The vehicle can pass gradeablity test upto certain angle but requires rise in accelration time to pass the test after crossing 9% gradeablity.
