Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Question1:

For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

launching the advisor tool in matlab with advisor.m file and after the file the advisor tool is opened in matlab window

after opening the advisor tool we have to open the load file option change into EV_defaults_in file and change the cargo load into 500kg given in the question

and click on continue option

and change the drive cycle FTP cycle and click run

from the picture we can see the vehicle runs at 17.8km.now go back and select no of cycles 2 and run

here the vehicle runs at 35.5 km and again change the cycle into 3 and run

nowthe vehicle runs at 41.4 km with battery left with no fuel in the vehicle

minimum distance of FTP cycle is 17.8km and maximum distance with this cycle is 41.4km with no fuel in battery

Question 2:

In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

In the vehicle input window we have to change the capacity of battery in energy storage row.Here we change the value of capacity of battery as 27 anddrive cycles as 3

and then click continue

After changing the battery module thevehicle runs at 44.8km and now changing the module again into 30 and click continue

after changing vehicle runs at 49.1 km as we increasing the no of modules of battery the vehicle also cover more distance

Question3:

Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file.Compare your results in table and conclude.

Here open advisor model and change the cycle into PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file.and continue into simulation paramters window.

Here click continue

click on gradibility test grade options and then change the time and speed values speed corresponds to the highest gradibility will be considered as best speed we run the test time as 10seconds.
