Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
(1) For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle?
>Load the advisor tool in the matlab command window and than select the ev_dwefault_file in the load file section, change the cargo mass to 500kgs, other than that keep alll the parametrs same and hit the continue button.
>The output after hitting the continue button is given below, change the cycle to cyc_FTP.

>After changing the cycle hit the run button.

>From this we can obsereve that by keeping all parametres same and hitting the drivecycle for once, the vehicle run about 17 kms.
>Our outcome is supposed to be 45 kms, so we have to change the no. of drive cycles.
>For having the no. of drive cycles as 3, the outcome is:

>After changing the no. of drivecycle to 3, again ht the run button to run the simulation.

>Evenafter keeping the value of drivecylce 3, we cannot achieve the targerted range of 45 kms, the vehicle will only run around 41 kms.
Observation:
>After running the simulation for both, having number of drivecycle 1 and as well as the number of drive cycle 3, it can be observed that the required output of 45 kms is still not achieveable.
>If we increae the drivecycle from 3 to higher than 3 than the 45kms range can be achieved.
(2) In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
>In the above question we have kept the value of battery same given by in-built system, bugt now we change the battery
capacity and than run the simulation.
>Instead of 25 we keep 50 this time.
>Now keeping the number of cycles same as above i.e. 3, we run the simulation

>As it can be seen that the required vehicle range had to be 45 kms, but now it has become around 53 kms after changing the battery capacity, which is more than required.
(3) Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
>After opening advisor tool, load the file PRIUS_Jpn_defaults and than click on continue button.

>Now, we have to change the value of speed input by giving changes in th grade options.
>To perform a proper gradebility test, I have assumed the speed inputs as 5 & 35mph.
Running the simulation after taking the value of speed inpunt as 5 mph and keeping fuel coverter disabled:

After giving these inputs we have to run the simulation

>So we can clearly see in the results that the gradebilty after giving the input as 5 mph is 32.4%.
Input given as 35 mph:

>As we can see the gradebility percentageafter running the test is 13%.
>From both these inputs we can obsereve that as the speed of the vehicle increases the gradebility decreases.
