Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Aim:
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in a table and conclude.
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
changing the cargo weight to 500kg.

changing the drive cycle from default to FTP.

can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle
No, in the below image you can see that in one cycle which is approx 17km the SOC graph is down to approx 60%. on changing the drive cycle from 1 to 4 now the approximate distance a vehicle covers are 41 km which the SOC is coming to 0.
So, it is concluded that the vehicle could not cover the 45km as SOC comes to 0 before reaching the distance

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Changing the battery capacity by selecting another lead-acid battery ESS_PB91_UCD

On running the simulation again the SOC is changed from 100% to 90% but in the previous battery the SOC comes below 90%.

It is concluded that by changing the capacity of the battery ṭhe the SOC of the vehicle will also be changed.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in a table and conclude.
performing the gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file.

Default condition: Speed = 88 km/hr

On changing the speed to 72.2

result:
at 88km/hr

at 72km/hr

| grade % | speed km/hr | gradeabilty% |
| 6 | 88 | 1.7 |
| 6 | 72 | 2.2 |
From the above table, it is concluded that by decreasing the speed the gradeabilty of the simulate vehicle will increase.
