Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
1. For the EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
first, load the ADVISOR tool and open the default window. after that from the Load file drop-down menu select the EV_defaults_in. it will load automatically. according to the question now change the mass to 500 kg in the right corner. after that click on the continue button. all the steps are shown below.

in this interface, the cargo mass is changed into 500 kg according to the question.

from this drive cycle, the drop-down menu select the "CYC_FTP" drive cycle according to the question and no of cycles is 1.
now click on run to see the output.

here four no of plots are generated from this plot and result parameters conclusion can be made.
from the result, it can be observed that the distance traveled by car is 17.8 Km. so it can not travel 45 Km distance in a single recharge.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation
now according to the question the battery capacity has changed. from the drop-down menu "ESS_PB65_FocusEV" module has been selected and voltage is now 353v. 28 module of battery is there.

now after clicking on the continue button drive cycle window appears and FTP drive cycle has been selected for 1 no of cycle.

click on the run button.

here again the travelled distance is 17.8 km but battery is not at 0% so, considering 6 no of drive cycles the final conclution can be made.

here it can be seen that on the ratio that car has travelled maximum 96 km on a single charge of the battery.
conclution
it can be conclude that changing the battery module and no of battery pack the range of travelling diatance has increased. moreover with the ESS_PB65_FocusEV battery of total 28 modules, the car easily can cover 45 km distance.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file compare your results in table and conclude

after clicking the continue button this is the window for gradeability test and for drive cycle. CYC_UDDS drive cycle is selected for this test.

so in the gradeability test 3 test has been performed fin different speed and constant time duration. it can be seen in the table that the gradeability decreases when speed increases.
