Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Q1) Using advisory tool
identify the vehicle travelling condition with cargo mass= 500kg , drive cycle = FTP
1st step : Dowload advisory tool
2nd step : Add the library paths of advisory tool to mat lab
3rd step : Type Advisor tool in the matlab command window
4th step : start the advisor tool session
5th step : Change the cargo mass value to 500kg inthe respective area
6th step : click continue after this and change the drive cycle to FTP with no of cycles 1

7th step : Click run after changing the value
Result :

from the above we can observe that total distance travelled = 17.8kms
consume about 40 % SOC
Now change the number of drive cycles to 2 and below are the results of simulation

from the above we can identify that total distance travelled is 35.5kms with 80% Soc
Now change the Drive cycles to 3 and observe the results

As per the above total distance travelled 41.4kms and 100% SOC
From the above we can identify that vehicle cannot travel 45kms due to in sufficient SOC
Q2) Change the battery capacity and run the simulation
Change battery capacity no : of mod 26 volts 321, battery weight 286kg
no of drive cycles are3

and the results are

now we can observe the distance travelled is 42.7 with 26 modules ,321 voltage battery of 286 kg
Now change the battery capacity to 27 modules and repeat the same procedure 333voltage ,297kg

Distace travelled is 44.8kms
Now change the number of modules 28, 345v, 308kgs

Distance travelled 46.3kms
from this we can conclude that for travelling 45kms it requires a battery capacity of 28 modules and 345volts battery
Q3) Gradability test for prius_JPN_default in

Select Prius_jpn from drop down menu of load file
select continue below window will appear mark gradability test and select grade options to give the speed input

enter the speed value as 20mph
Run the simulation

Gradability is 19.8%
change the speed value to 25mph

Results

Gradability 16.5%
Now change the speed value as 30mph

Gradability 14.7%
Now change the speed value 35mph

Gradability 13%
Now change the speed to 40 mph

Gradability 11.7%
now change the speed to 45mph

Gradability 10.7%
Now change the speed 50mph

Gradability 9.7%
From the above simulation we can conclude that for timeduration of 10 sec speed increases gradability decreases
