Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
1. For Use EV_default_in file, if cargomass is 500 kg with all other default condition. Can vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle. conclude your observation.
AIM: To find the vehicle distance covered when cargomass is 500 kg with EV-default profile by ADVISOR TOOL SIMULATION.
SIMULATION:
The following simulation is carried out by ADVISOR TOOL in matlab.
Once Matlab software is opened, need to open the advisor tool folder in following path. Then type 'advisor' in command window inorder to open the advisor tool. After START the simmulation.
As below EV_default_in file were loaded in conficuration. The vehicle type also chnaged to EV.

Now we need to chnage the cargomass as 500 kg.
----->
After update cargomass press CONTIONUE. Then below window will open, here drive cycle is selected as CYC-UDDS type. If you press RUN, as per the configuration cycle it will operate & respective data will be displayed.
In below figure the distance covered of the vehicle for CYC_UDDS CYCLE is 7.45 miles.
With respect to CYC_UDDS cycle the distance were not matching as required. So now need to change the drive cycle to FTP type.

for one cycle time distance travelled is 11.04 miles. So we can increase the no cycle time & in which cycle the vehicle can attain 45 kg can be calculated.
2.In above case try changing the battery capacity & repeat the signal.
For EV_default_in charge capacity were increased from 25 kw to 38 kw.
Now press 'continue' to the simulation parameters.
RESULT:

3. Perform gradability test with PRIUS_JPN_DEFAULT_IN file. Compare your results in table & conclude.
Load the PRIUS_JPN_DEFAULT_IN file in to the advisor tool.

Now press 'continue' to the simulation parameters.

To check gradability need to enable the 'GRADABILITY TEST'

We can configure the parameters in grade option. When you double click the 'grade options' the following below window will open.
after changeing the parameters press 'OK', then it will go back to the simulation window.
GRADABALITY FOR 55 mph
GRADABALITY FOR 40 mph
GRADABALITY FOR 60 mph
RESULT:
| SI.NO | SPEED (kmph) | GRADABILITY(%) |
| 1 |
40 |
2.5 |
| 2 | 50 | 2 |
| 3 | 55 | 1.7 |
| 4 | 60 | 1.5 |
CONCLUTION:
From the results at different operation when ever speed increases gradability will reduce & When speed decreases gradability will increase.
