Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Aim-
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
Ans-for opening the advisor tool,we have opened the m file and load the EV_defaults_ and we can see the different specification of the vehicle,we have to change the vehicle mass to 500 and click continue,
next we have to select the required type of cycle in the simulation and we are selecting FTP cycle and run it.
we can see the results of the ftp cycle,in the window we are seeing the distance covered is 17.8km
for completing 45km we have to use more cycles so changing the no. of cyce from the simulation parameter window to 3 cycles we are getting the result as below,
from the result we can see a warning message which shows that distance exceeds the range of the EV so it cant complete the distance of 45km,3.2km less is the distance covered.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Ans-We have changed the battery capacity from 25 to 50 then we then the problem of battery drainage is not found.so the required distance is covered.we can see the result below,
3.Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file,Compare your results in table and conclude.
Ans-first we have to load the vehicle PRIUS_Jpn_ and continue ,from the simulation window we have the options for acceleration test and gradability test,we have to choose the gradability test.
after selecting the gradability test we have to configure the advanced options,in this we can change different parameters in this window we can change speed, duraition of the test,SoC values.
from the results we can see the gradability of the prius model, for different speeds we have to calculate the gradability for each speeds,
| Speed(km/h) | Gradability |
| 5 | 32.8 |
| 10 | 30.3 |
| 15 | 24.4 |
| 20 | 19.8 |
| 25 | 16.9 |
| 30 | 14.7 |
| 35 | 13 |
The gradability decreases with increase in the speed,we are getting the maximum gradability in minimum speed with value of 32.8 .
