Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

Aim:-

1. For the EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file. Compare your results in the table and conclude.

Findings:-

1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.

Input:- As we can see in the below picture the highlighted data has been changed.

I have changed the Drive cycle to “CYC_FTP” and No of cycles is 3, as highlighted in the picture below.

Output:- As we can see in the picture below the total distance covered is 41.4 km and SOC of the battery has reduced to 0%.

2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.

Input:- I have Changed the battery capacity from 25 kW to 50 kW and highlighted it in the below picture.

Output:-

I have kept all the parameters the same and we can see in the picture below the total distance covered has increased to 53.3 km and the SOC of the battery is still 35% remaining.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file. Compare your results in the table and conclude.

Input:- Here I have already set the file to PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in and after that, I have enabled the gradeability test and changed the speed and all system enabled (as highlighted in below picture).

Output:- As we can see in the table below, as I changed the speed of the vehicle (as per the above picture) the gradeability is decreasing.
