Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
CHALLENGES
Use ADVISOR tool and simulate the following
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Challenge-1:-
1)In advisor tool model, there are many options of selecting type of vehicle and analysis we want to do,of all the vehivle EV_defaults choosen and the cargo mass is edited as 500kg.
2)In advisor tool model you can select the type of condition we want the motor rating, the cargo mass, transmission and many other things.

3)After editing then click on continue and drive cycle can be selected and there are many other options of adding grading, acceleration, and type of test procedure we want to do.
4)no.of drive cycles can be added in it this will help to determine the soc of the battery.

As we can see in one drive cycle of ftp it has travel a distance of 17.7km and soc is 60 percent at the end.
2)

In two drive cycle we can see that the battery consumptiopn has been more than previous drive cycle, dead and distance travelled is 35.5km.
3)The same drive cycle is done thrice and battery consumption has been done fully, and it has reached to dead state.

4)And the same drive cycle is done for the fourth time and look at the output,As we can see the distance covered has been same because the state of charge is completelty drained out.

So we can conclude above four graph is that the vehicle could drive for only 41.4km and this done by increasing the number of drive cycle.
Challenge 2 -

After selection the battery as ESS_PB_IDEAL
we can see there as been changes in the distance travelled by the vehicle,it has been 46.1 kilometre which is what we want.

Gradebility test-
This test is done on toyota prius, how the vehicle speed manages with gradebility of the vehicle.
Here we going to see two types of gradebility test
1) By chnaging the speed of the vehicle
2)By changing the speed and gradebility of the vehicle.
By changing the speed of the vehicle-
Run(1)-
In this we are chosing the default speed as 55 mph.

And the vehicle is run and see the results of the gradebility obtained is -

Here we can clearly see that gradebility obtained is 1.7%.
Run(2)-
In this we are chosing the default speed as 45mph.

Here we can clearly see that gradebility obtained is 2.2%.
AS from above two we can see that decrease in speed increases gradebility.
2)By changing the speed and gradebility of the vehicle.

here we are trying to get a gradebility of 6 percent at speed of 55 mph.
And the results obtained are-

Here we can see that certain speed has certian value of gradebility and we cannot change the gradebility according to our wish if we want at that speed, And other thing wee can observe here is that at low speed we can have certain high value of gradebility.
