Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
Objective -
1. For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
2. In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
Observations :
Objective 1 and 2
1. Keeping all the setting to default and performing at the default conditions only changing the cargo mass to 500 kg

Changing the Cargo mass to 500kg
2. The maximum distance it can travel is 17.8 km for the ftp cycle. Where cycle numbers are set to 1 as per mentioned in objective. deafault number of battery modules are 25.

Observation Of results at default settings
3. Running the simulation again with 100 modules and the car is running only for the 17.8 kms.

Observations From changing battery modules to 100
3.Now changing the modules to 1000 the distance it running is 17.1 kms lower from the previous simulation run.

Observation of model changing the modules to 1000
4. Now reducing the number of modules to 10 and observing simulation again, vehicle is only travelling to 12.3 km which is not equal to previous simulation.

Observation of the model changing the modules to 10
5. from above iterations we can conclude that from advisor tool ev defaults all the distance vehicle can travel with 500kg mass is 17.8 km.
6. Also we can also conclude that increasing number modules can also increase the total vehicle weight and it will effect the efficiency of the vehicle.
Objective 3 -
1 Running simulation of japan prius model in advisor and performing grade test has given following results.

Prius Japan Model
A. First condition is with the default gradeability of the vehicle as you can see in the result the exhaust gas emissions are as per following results
B. The result below that are energy uses and overall efficiency of the vehicle, we can see in the results power losses are very much great.

Observations Of model during gradeability 6%

Energy Losses and efficiency during the 6% gradeability
C. In second condition gradeability of the vehicle changed to 25 percent and we can see the difference emissions and as well as power consumptions.
D. the overall power losses are increased as well as the efficiency of the vehicle has been dropped as well as exhaust gases from the vehicle has now more number of carbon dioxide which shows the incomplete burning as well as the power losses during fuel conversion.

Observation of result with 25% gradeability

Energy losses and Efficiency with 25% gradeability.
From above results we can conclude that at high speed and high gradeability the efficiency and the overall performance of the vehicle drops significantly.
Results and Conclusion
1. All the objectives are performed successfully.
2. Advisor model is the efficient and good for the simulation of different existing vehicles.
3. All the result and graphs observed successfully.
