Challenge

Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool

1. EV_ default_IN file is selected from load file option in the advisor tool window

in this window the cargo mass is changed to 500kg and we can see the total mass of vehicle changing after this keeping all the other value as default and clicking on continue

in the next window we can see the simulation parameter window now changing the drive cycle to FTP drive cycle and selecting number of drive cycle as 1 and running the simulation

now we can see the vehicle has travelled for 17.8km consuming about 40% of soc

Again changing the number of drive cycle to 2

we can see the vehicle has travelled for about 35.5km consuming about 80% of SOC

again changing the drive cycle to 3

now the vehicle has travelled for 41.4km consuming 100% of SOC

From the above results the vehicle cannot travel for 45km due to inefficient SOC.

2. Considering the same above case we will only change the battery capacity earliear it was 25 module and 308 voltage battery with 275kg

now we will change to 26module and 3 drive cycles and repeate the simulation

we can observe from the above that vehicle has travelled for 42.7km under 26module 321voltage battery 286kg

Now again changing the battery capacity to 27module

we can see from the above that vehicle has travelled for 44.8km under the battery capacity 27module 333volt 297kg

now we will change the battery capacity to 28module

Now we can see the vehicle as travelled 46.3km under the battery capacity 28module 345volt 308kg

from the above we can conclude the for this vehicle to travel for 45km it requires the battery capacity of 28module 345volt battery.

3. Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file

In the advisor tool window under the drop down in load file we select PRIUS_Jpn_default_in file

now we will select continue a simulation window appears and we check mark the greadabelity test and select gradeoptions to give the different speed value

We give the speed as 20mph or 32.2kmph

the Gradebelity is 19.8%

At the speed of 25mph or 40.2kmph

The gradebility is 16.5%

At the speed of 30mph or 48.3kmph

the gradebility is 14.7%

At the speed of 35mph or 56.3kmph

the gradebility is 13%

at the speed of 40mph or 64.4kmph

the gradebility is 11.7%

at the speed of 45mph or 72.4kmph

the gradebility is 10.7%

at the speed of 50mph or 80.5kmph

the gradebility is 9.7%

For duration of 10sec

Sl.no Speed in mph Speed in kmph Gradebility

1 20 32.2 19.8%

2 25 40.2 16.5%

3 30 48.3 14.7%

4 35 56.3 13%

5 40 64.4 11.7%

6 45 72.4 10.7%

7 50 80.5 9.7%

From the above table we can conclude that at a duration of 10sec as the speed increases the Gradebility decreases.
