Week-3 Challenge: ADVISOR Tool
1.For EV_defaults_in file, if cargo mass is 500 kg with all other default conditions, can the vehicle travel for 45 km with FTP drive cycle? Conclude your observations.
- Select the EV_defaults_in from the drop down menu in the load file section
- Change the cargo mass to 500kg
- Now click on the continue button a new window will pop up.

- In the new window change the drive cycle to CYC_FTP by selecting it from the drop down menu.

- Now press the RUN button. The simulation will start and the results will be shown in the new window.

As see from the above snap the vehicle has traveled 17.8 km and the SOC (state of charge) of the battery has dropped to 60%.
As seen from the above snaps the CYC_FTP is of 17.8 km. To complete the 45km distance we will have to change the number of cycles to 3. (3 FTP cycles.)
After changing the number of cycles to 3 and runnning the simulation the below plots are obtained.

As seen from the above snap, the state of charge drops to 0% after the vehicle has travelled 41.4 km. So the vehicle cannot travel 45km with FTP cycle.
In the above case, try changing the battery capacity and repeat the simulation.
Changing the battery module from 25 to 40. The battery voltage changes from 308V to 493V. The weight of the battery changes from 275kg to 440kg.

After increasing the battery capacity we can see from below snap that the vehicle can travel 53.3 km with 3 number of FTP drive cycle.

Perform gradeability test with PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file
Compare your results in table and conclude.
- Selecting PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in in the load file tab.

- Click continue after loading the PRIUS_Jpn_defaults_in file.
- Check the gradeability test box and then click on the Grade options. A new window will pop up. Change the speed to 50 mph and check All systems enabled box. Then run the simulation.

- After hitting run a new window will pop up which will show the plots and will show the gradeability at 50mph (80.5 kmph) which is 9.7%

- We will now reduce the speed to 40 mph and see the impact on gradeability.

- After changing the speed to 40mph (64.4 kmph) and keeping all other parameters the same, the gradeability has increased to 11.7%.

- Now lets change the speed to 60 mph and see the impact on gradeability. The gradeabilty has dropped to 8.1%.

- Lets decrease the speed to 25 mph and check the gradeability. The gradeability has increased to 16.5%.

| Sr. no | Speed in mph | speed in kmph | Gradeability (%) |
| 1 | 50 | 80.5 | 9.7 |
| 2 | 40 | 64.4 | 11.7 |
| 3 | 60 | 96.6 | 8.1 |
| 4 | 25 | 40.2 | 16.5 |
From the above experiments we can say that the speed and gradeability are inversely proportional .As the speed increases the gradeability decreases.
